Feast of St. Luke, Evangelist (10/18/16)

Luke, The Evangelist

Today, one of the most important figures of the Primitive Church is remembered - Luke the Evangelist. The following facts tell us why:

1. Luke singlehandedly wrote a quarter of the New Testament. The first  is a gospel about the story of Jesus and the second, on the Acts of the Apostle which is about the Infant Church as a distinct phase of salvation history.
2. Luke on his gospel emphasizes on how Jesus is caring and tender toward the poor and the lowly, the outcast, the sinner and the afflicted, those who recognize their dependence on God. No evangelist is more concerned with the mercy and compassion of Jesus  with the role of the  Spirit in the life of Jesus and of the Christian disciples, with the importance of prayer, with Jesus' concern for women.
3. Luke was at times a close and faithful collaborator of Paul, who calls him "the beloved physician" (Col 4:14)
4. Luke was highly literate both in the Old Testament and in Hellenistic Greek writings. He wrote mostly for Gentile Christians and the whole Church at large. ( The Bible Diary 2016)

The Beauty of Life

Memories

We always hear and read that Life is what we make it. That is the beauty of Life . You have the control on what you are going to do. You got the ball of decision in your hands.  Are you going to shoot that ball or pass it to the player that has the strategic position and the goal is a given?

The world is in chaos, in a mess because of selfishness and sharing is wanting. We are created to be loved and things are created to be used. But what is true is the contrary. People are being used and things are being loved. We become selfish. We love the things that money could buy. Competition is keen. Love of the Source of Life and its beauty is taken for granted. The race is on for fame, power and hubris.

Then, the blame ! We forget the Source of our very existence. We are no longer aware of the beauty of the night that turns into a blossoming dawn, of friends that turn into a family, of dreams that turn into reality

We should never blame anybody that crossed our path. We must know that the good ones showered us happiness to be grateful with, the bad ones offered us experiences to heed, the worst ones gave us lessons to bear, and the best ones gave us the memories to cherish and to share.

And memories are flowers that bloom in the garden of our today, permeating our hours with fragrance enveloping us with the joy of the beauty of living.

Balud sa Kapalaran (Wave of Fate)

Balud Sa Kapalaran (Wave of Fate )

A Visayan Song: Sung by Max Surban with his guitar.
(Lyric's English translation of Greg In. Trabanca)

Balud sa kapalaran hunong na, sa imo kanakong pagdagmal.
(Wave of fate please stop your torments upon me )

Nalisang ako nga ibanlas  sa baybayon sa mga timawa ug alaut.
(Horrified, I am that you'll thrash me to the shore, to the poor and miserable)

Pagkabangis gayud intawon sa akong gidangatan
(Fiercely harrowing is the fate I have encountered )

Laos na king paglaum, bun-og na king kalag.
(Archaic is my hope, injured is my soul.)

Wa' nay lain nga ako pang kadangpan
(No other place where I could take refuge )

O balud sa palad ko, hunong na intawon, o hunong na.
(O wave of my destiny, please just stop, o just stop. )

A Mayor Turns President

The Chosen One

The very short stay in the Seminary was very pivotal in the sense that those limited days were comparable to an Associate's degree. This was augmented by the readings of the life of Thomas Merton, an intelligent Trappist monk (priest) which caught my attention and struck me with fervor about being a genuine priest; who then, became instrumental to the reflection of my interior life and its meaning leading me to the path of contemplation. And at this juncture, was the so-called, unbridled freedom, outside the seminary.

I remembered when asked why I was going out of the seminary? I said, "many were called but few were chosen". This echoed in my mind as I watched the activities of the newly elected president of the Philippines, Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

This guy was chosen. Why? Imagine with no solid political party support, just enough campaign money, not accepting contributions from businessmen ( in order not to incur the debt of gratitude), he launched his candidacy on a platform of past performances as a lawyer, prosecutor, mayor of a city and his wisdom on the profound need of the moment - CHANGE. That is the elimination of illegal drugs, curbing criminality, and restraining corruption plus his sincere love of his country and countrymen.

These 3 words: drugs, criminality, and corruption were inculcated in the voters' minds and rang loudly in their ears. The voters got the picture. And Duterte seized the opportunity of the moment. Candidates of the opposing parties were bent on discussing issues on economics, making the country great, and so on and so forth...but how can you turn the wheel of progress to make the country great when users, sellers, and producers of illegal drugs are unrestrained and have penetrated the government and private offices, departments,  the prisons. Criminality is rampant. There's a problem of peace and order. People are slowly losing hope in the government. Then corruptions creep in every nook and cranny of departments.

Duterte's example of the city of Davao as a mayor is sufficient to convince the voters, with of course his sincerity, his humbleness, his down-to-earth charisma, his pedestrian lingo and street smart experience, his jokes buttressed with his fearlessness in the performance of his duties in consonance with the aegis and mandate of the constitution. That he is willing to give his life for the sake of his country and people. Meanwhile, the opposing candidates shoulder questionable issues. He has a formidable advantage.

Past presidents were not able to curb the rampant evil activities in the government but this 16th president like Abraham of the Bible, who pleaded with God to save Sodom and Gomorrah, listened to his countrymen for their clamor of change. The rest is history.  The election gave him an overwhelming victory, but even before his taking of Oath of Office, the losing candidates were busy burning their midnight candles to do research works to smear his popular name. They found nothing. The voters were with him to hell or high water.

Riding the rough ride, the tough-talking mayor, dubbed as The Punisher, The Dirty Harry of Davao City rode on his Harvey big bike with a smile as the sun rose on Mindanao's bald forests, south of imperial Manila singing his favorite in his native tongue, " Balud sa kapalaran hunong na sa imo kanakong pagdagmal. Nalisang ako nga ibanlas sa baybayon, sa mga timawa ug alaut. ( Wave of fate please stop your torments upon me. I'm horrified that you'll thrash me to the shore, to the poor and miserable )

Meanwhile, the mountains and the seas in unison permeated the air with his other favorite, Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up".

"When  I am down, and, oh, my soul, so weary.  When troubles come, and my heart burdened be, Then, I am still and wait here in the silence, Until you come and sit awhile with me.
       You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains. You raise me up to walk on stormy seas.
       I am strong when I am on your shoulders, You raise me up to more than I can be."

People of the Philippines from Aparri to Jolo and overseas, let's raise him up to more than he can be -  the 16th president of the Philippines, Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte, The Chosen One!

As the WAVES of CHANGE  are rolling upon the shores of our beloved country. Digong and Bato need your prayers that God will sit with them in the silence of their hearts to raise them up so they can valiantly stand on the mountain of hope with their promise of the elimination of illegal drugs, of maintaining peace & order, of improving health programs, of enhancing socio-economic prosperity through the curbing of corruptions, so they can walk without sinking on the stormy seas of criticisms despite the naysayers.

Song of the South

Heal the Wound

Dear country: it is now morning
He has awakened from his flight.
Our dear son is gladly coming
To restore us from our dire plight.

Our fond hope from disunity
Is a man of deliverance
To topple the high and mighty;
With joy, we welcome his entrance.

Out of the troubled Southern sea
Comes one of the living heroes
Undaunted and ever ready
To safeguard our shores from the foes.

This man came for the dear land sake
Inquest for genuine freedom.
Peoples' clamor he has to take
This man of action and wisdom.

Now is the time to heal the wound
And restore true peace and order.
Let not the monkeys dance around
As we stand shoulder to shoulder.

(N.B.) I was inspired to write this poem due to the landslide victory
of the 16th President, Rodrigo Roa Duterte; much more
 that he is the first President from my birth island of Mindanao
( popularly called " the Land of Promise ".) DU30 is: " program, action,
delivery with the signature promise of making the Philippines great and from the looks of it, it's making waves.

Bridge of Love, A Sonnet

In our life's odyssey, there's gloom
But there's albeit that rising sun.
Varied flowers in summer bloom
Joy appears when a chore is done.

Let's mull over our adversity
Ponder our end for our action
That in life there's eternity;
A bridge of love: our mission.

This bridge must be built very strong
Must brave the fiercest of weather;
A testament that we were not wrong.

So guys let us get together
In constructing a bridge of love
That will connect us forever.

(Note:) Peace is attainable through mutual understanding, love, and honesty.

Evangeline: A Memory

Out of the mire of lovely past
Mirthful surface in memory.
Our fun and frolic never last
As long as you are close to me.

Happy geese hover up above
Where you rest far from family.
Your cuddles remind us of love
Driving distress and scorn away.

Problems may flood our little world,
Discontentment carpets our ground;
We will stand triumphant and bold
Because you are always around.

Then Spring arrives with rain and shower,
While Summer sun readily smile;
Your tender love is forever
And Winter can come to beguile.

Evangeline's Story

The Story of Evangeline

In the tranquility of silence, there is the calmness
that impels us to seek our life partners and friends
shoulders to cry on through prose and poetry.
Evangeline brought life and light into my life.
(Gleaned from the intimate conversation and keen observation)
(Greg Intas Trabanca )

From lovely Liloy's clay dirt road
To Labason town of fish-fraught shore
Came a lass with the wisdom to load
Whose smile was never seen before?

To prove the dream of her father
In the world of reality.
She has to muster and gather
The rose garden of industry.

She crisscrossed  paths in the health service;
While Manila's school was tempting
And the State Hospital's edifice
We were mainly open to asking.

Love is like a flower garden
That needs water and tender care;
Therefore, don't be really sudden
At the time of this love affair.

Cupid's dart hit a clean target;
Dipolog: 29th of May.
In San Francisco, don't forget,
"To Alma's sis, you have to stay".

The wedding cake she had to leave,
And off to the Windy City.
Mommy Armea can't believe
that she drowned herself in self-pity.

The Norwegian Hospital was near.
Employment waiting: for two months.
Labor and delivery sans fear;
Whatever work is what she wants.

Bishop Zafra's unexpected knock
Sent Eve with her pretty baby boy
To open the door and was shocked
Yet kissed the Bishop's ring with joy.

Days of toil and hard work rolled by;
Then loomed the American dream.
And she was overwhelmed with "why"?
Yet she had to live in that realm.

Lived life as a gift wrapped with love;
Tied with a ribbon of mystery.
Good friends are blessings from  above
Like clean air - a necessity.

Eve's attitude of constancy
Greatly helped her sisters and brother
Have professions and were lucky
Not asunder but together.

Neil and Ted joined the survival fray
With their piano and accordion
Weekends were for lessons and play
But not on their expectation.

Vacation is such therapy.
Onondaga Cave spells wonder.
Longwood Gardens their its beauty;
Florida, with its space center.

The Sears Tower of Chicago
And the Twin Towers of New York
Are narratives of long ago
That could be erased in one stroke.

Worth telling was Eve's lifetime trip
To Italy, Spain, and Europe.
On the Carnival Liberty's ship
At the Vatican, she missed the Pope.

In this day and age, you wonder
All about love and forgiveness.
Loneliness is not forever;
And there is light in our darkness.

Her thoughts reverberated back home
As she performed her daily chore.
Memories of places they roam;
Of waves leaving their foams ashore.

And all the loves she left behind
That sent a murmur on life's brevity.
Yet consoled and nothing to pine
'Cause Life has its eternity.

Long, long after in time and space
Evangeline's name: a whisper
Her story in the sky to gaze
In our hearts remain forever.

: A Tale of Dignity III

Evangeline's San Pedro Class '62 Memories

At San Pedro School of Nursing
The ladies in white were friendly.
Her young world was so amusing
Notes, books, and friends made her happy.

Prostrate hours on Infant's pleading
With unflinching faith she prayed:
Tessie, her precious stone sparkling
Came to her side and gladly stayed.

Connie, the artist on the go
And Loida, the submissive type.
Mom Thelma told them what to do;
Polly smiled that there was no strife.

Then, there was Chato, the lively
And Fe, the lady professor.
Appeared Marlene of Del Monte;
French Canadians at her succor.

Hail, SPC Class of '62!
Delia de Paz, the peacekeeper.
Marilane Aldea Lim so true;
Rosario Sulit- friend forever.

The mentor, Imelda Dela Cruz
And Winnie, the smiling Gatilao
Were the nurses that drove her woes
From the island of Mindanao.

Memories embossed on the walls
Of her world and time are dance notes
In her sheer emptiness that calls
The silence as the music floats.

Evangeline- A Tale of Dignity

Evangeline: A Tale of Dignity

Lady in white glued your vision
Enhanced by your mentor's advice
That thought could turn into action
And in Him, you'll always rise.

You crossed the sea for some shore
To seek that uniform in white.
This time there was no open door;
Your gumption said: " do what is right".

You saw a glimmer from above
That fell right to your foamy shore;
From deep spell fluttered a white dove
With a message that says: " pray more".

Out of nowhere came a neighbor
Bringing tidings simple and true
Of lighthouse in Davao's harbor;
That San Pedro school awaits you.

We can't control the Time and Space;
But with God's blessings, we can do
Good things in this life's constant race
Through the grace of the Santo Nino'.

9:00 o'clock AM-. From home I drove northwest to Maryhill Cemetery
with my 2 sons Neil & Ted to pay respect to my
wife, Evangeline Rueles Magallanes Caermare Trabanca
who silently and lovingly left us Nov. 29 (Sunday ) for
eternal repose. Fr. Manny Duterte from Toronto, Canada
was waiting for us with Boy Briones, my wife's neighbor
mate back home, whose wife Aida was laid to rest also
on this burial place. Fr. Manny had a blessing & prayer
(responso ) in Latin. The temp was in the 40's with clouds
and sun. Beautiful Sunday.

We ate at Old Country Buffet for breakfast and went home.

On Beauty

" The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, or even touched, they must be felt with the heart." - Helen Keller.

I must admit and believe the veracity of the statement yet my heart hurts and my eyes flow tears of shame because we, who have eyes that can see and complete arms to touch, do not feel the way Helen Keller felt with her heart. This world is a beautiful and wonderful place lacking only over with the exploration and compassion of the human heart.  And the more beauty glows like the star of  Bethlehem where the beauty of redemption explodes with wonder in our hearts.

December comes with the most beautiful thing in the world that could be seen, touched, and felt by the human heart as the Savior will appear in a manger of the Christian churches. A beautiful Filipino tradition of welcoming the Infant Child is a 9-day novena mass beginning on the 15th known as Simbang Gabi or Dawn Mass, Misa de Gallo or Misa de Aguinaldo. This beautiful religious tradition has gained popularity in California, New York, New Jersey,  Chicago, Illinois, and even across the globe.

There was a 19th of December Simbang Gabi celebration at the Queen of All Saints Basilica at Sauganash in Lincolnwood, Illinois. That day was also the date that I was released from a 9- month of captive love in the womb of my dear mother to begin the discovery journey of this planet Earth. The splendor spread before my eyes and the beauty mesmerized my very being when for the first time I saw the light of shall we say freedom. I felt the fascination. The will to live engulfed me to do more exploration and investigation. I wriggled with a cry of acceptance but have no clue of its aftermath.

Indeed, Beauty belongs to the beholder but is felt with the heart.

A Tale of Dignity 1

Evangeline's Journey to Eternity
 (Nov. 29, 2015 - Sunday)

You go calmly amid the din
And disdain to settle in silence;
Sans retreat you are always in
Awareness of human existence.

You are caring yet careless of
Haughty and oppressive person.
You are loving, loyal and soft
To those who live without reason.

You speak the truth with discipline;
Cautious not to hurt other's feelings
And to follow what is written
No matter what the result brings.

You are happy with your career-
Your faith, family and neighbor
For dear life is not forever
And living is a metaphor.

You are the daughter of our Lord.
You serve well this wonderful vale.
The nursing career you adored:
Yarn of a Florence Nightingale.

Note: Florence Nightingale (May 12,1820/ Aug 13,1910) was a trailblazing figure in nursing who greatly affected 19th -and 20th-century policies around proper care. She was known for her night rounds to aid the wounded, establishing her image as " the Lady with the Lamp". She is the pioneer of Modern Nursing. She was born in Florence, Italy.

Evangeline's Journey

Beloved Evangeline

Dearly beloved, we see the light;
We see all things are beautiful,
It captures us with pure delight.
All things are good: food for the soul.

We see the beauty of the list.
And suddenly some things have changed,
You just fade away like a mist,
This is how nature is arranged.

Guide us, stay, and never leave me,
Blaze the trail in our gloomy days
Take it whatever it will be
Along the shores and in the bays,

In our slumber, we hear you speak;
In the breaking of the pale dawn
Along the park and in the lake
To us happily on the lawn.

You see life in a baby's face,
In a troubled world's countenance,
In all the faces as we gaze
Through the wide windows in a glance.

And now commences your journey
To a place called the Paradise
Where there is joy and eternity,
For the achievement, this is your price.

Voice

The Captain

There's a voice that guides creations
Amidst the noise of  modern culture
Many succumb to temptations
Others listen to the future.

We must listen to this voice
In the classroom of silence.
And we must be glad and rejoice
To the words of the Providence.

There is also that human voice
With a commanding resonance.
And we have no other choice
But the feeling of good riddance.

I heard this voice on my cellphone
One day in my backyard alone.

Reminded me of a captain
On his boat amidst rough waters
With mission and vision to obtain
A stout heart that never wavers.

His compass moves with precision
With the traders and the farmers
Towards friendly persuasion
Accolades and laurels he gathers.

A high school mate

Today, a friend's call unraveled the fabric of existence which brought us back to life's green and red light;  and the knowledge that we knew yet is taken for granted due to the hustle and bustle of daily survival.

"Greg ", Boy ( Rustico Briones) said, "she is no longer with us." He was referring to his wife. And memories wafted in the bridging atmosphere over the phone. "Why didn't you give us a call," I said.
 "but I understood what will really happen in that particular scenario."

"Now I am alone," he continued. " Nope, you are not alone, I said, " Remember, Footprints.?
Yes, yes. He is with you but calls and talk to Him. You learned that in your parochial and seminary days. Recite all the prayers that you've learned. The Angelus...And Boy replied."Yes, and you know what... I even pray the Latin version. Of course and it's shorter.

By the way, Boy, are you familiar with the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy?

"No-o-oh !" he responded.

I see. You got a pen and paper, handy? I continued. It's just saying the Rosary but you begin with the Our Father... Hail Mary...  I believe ...(The  Creed)

On the large bead before each decade say: Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. On the 10 small beads of each decade say: For the sake of His sorrowful Passion have mercy on us and on the whole world. Conclude with: Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (3 times) Follow it with: JESUS KING OF MERCY we trust in you! Simple, concise yet powerful. It's a celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, right?

"That's very good. I am praying not just for myself. I will do that," was my mate's (Boy Briones) answer, which was swallowed by the stillness of the evening.

Living Every Day With Passion and Purpose

On May 1, 2015, I attended a 3 hour and 45 minutes of a life-changing event at St. Catherine Laboure, 3425 Thornwood Ave, Glenview, IL, sponsored by the Chicago Cursillo. ( My wife, Evangeline Rueles Caermare Trabanca, and I were members of the first Cursillo) in my birth town of Labason, Zambo del Norte, Phil.) That event too, back home was life-changing as wayward lives of couples, single men, and women were drowned in the maelstrom of change from those 3-day close door event/retreat. And the dawning of a new day to the life of the attendees who were: parish priest, the town mayor, professionals, and non-professionals. My wife and I were single at that time.

But this event at suburban Glenview tweaked the very core of my being. It is a decision point. The speaker, Matthew Kelley, is a New York Times best- selling author of 16 books, an internationally acclaimed speaker, and a business consultant to some of the world's largest and most admired companies. He has that unique ability to delve profoundly into the genius of Catholicism. He pulled you to be the best-version-of yourself. He talked about engagement- that in our journey on this planet we are engaged or disengaged at work, in marriage, as parents in our quest for health and well-being, in personal finances, environmentally, politically, and spiritually.

Matthew Kelley asked: Are we as Catholics highly engaged, massively disengaged, or in between?  What is the difference between highly engaged Catholics and disengaged Catholics?  He answered these questions in his book, The Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic. How engaging 1% of Catholics could change the world.

The 4 signs he wrote are 1. PRAYER 2. STUDY 3. GENEROSITY 4. EVANGELIZATION. That highly engaged Catholics have a daily commitment to prayer, are continuous learners, generous, and the audacity to invite others to grow spiritually by sharing the love of God with them.

After all these years, I still hunger for learning new things that I have not encountered during my humble, younger, reckless, growing days.  The decade I was born was the best of decades, the best of years. WW 11 changed the panorama of the world. The years before and after that were wonderful, memorable, and beautiful years. "Those were the days my friends, we thought 'twill never end... we sing and dance...". We were happy!

Chicago Christmas 2014

This is a moment to remember...
The sweet memories of the time
When lovely past  can't surrender
On those days blessed and sublime.

In the dark womb of oblivion
Emerge things so sweet, so noble
Rushing to create a vision
Linking pieces to assemble.

Inday came from Okinawa
With her son and daughter's smart kid.
From neighboring Canada;
Christmas endears Belen, indeed.

Riza and son from big Texas;
From Samoa came a woman
Bonding the families to last-

....Ask anything of me in my name,

John 14:13-14 ) ... (13) And whatever you ask in my name, I will do so, so that the Father may be glorified in the son. (14) If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. God is One. And there are 3 Divine Persons. In multiplication: 1x1x1 = 1. This is the mystery of the holy and blessed Trinity. In the beginning, in the history of creation, the Three  Divine Persons were present. Remember, to God nothing is impossible. As this mystery of the Three Divine Persons unfolded, we have a  clear picture but still, our non-Christian brothers don't have the audacity to grasp the truth.

No one has seen God the Father. Humanity has seen the Son who is Jesus, the Christ but some dare not believe because He was born in a manger, therefore He could not be classified as a King to lead the people out of bondage. And who is this son of a carpenter of Nazareth named  Joseph and a virgin mother, Mary? Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit). One day Jesus was nowhere to be found. They kept looking for him everywhere but on the third day they came upon him on the temple amongst teachers listening to them and asking them questions. Like doting parents, they asked him of his whereabouts of which he politely answered that he was in his Father's house.

 (Matt. 3: 16-17 ) And when Jesus was baptized, he at once came up from the water, and suddenly the heavens opened and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming down on him. And suddenly there was a Voice from heaven, saying "this is My beloved Son," with whom I am well pleased.

(John 2: 1-7) On the third day, there was a  wedding at Cana in Galilee. The mother of Jesus was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited...And they ran out of wine since the wine provided for the feast had all been used, and the mother of Jesus said to him, They have no wine. Jesus said, 'Woman, what do you want from me? My hour has not come yet. 'His mother said to the servants, 'Do whatever he tells you.'... Jesus said to the servants, 'Fill the jars with water, and they filled them up to the brim.'

The Holy Eucharist

The Core of  Catholicism

"The Holy Eucharist is totally dependent on the priesthood. No priesthood, no Eucharistic sacrifice, no Holy Communion, no Eucharistic Adoration. " That is why there is a need for a Rosary for priests.

At the Women Center in Chicago, I accepted an assignment every Friday from 3 P.M.  to 4 P.M. for Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration ( this is actually in lieu of Evangeline, my wife for personal reason). Also on Friday at the Transfiguration Church from 7 P.M. to 8 P.M. - the novena of Jesus, the Nazarene patterned to that of Quiapo devotion in Manila, Philippines. I felt that it is my obligation to have at least an hour with the real presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist besides the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass on Sundays and Holidays of obligation.

After the Fall, we became mortal but we still cling to that idea of immortality. Finally, we found the answer when during the kingship of David, a Child was born giving birth to Christianity and usher the dawn of immortality. That Child King who was born in a manger, paid homage by three Magi guided by the ever glowing light of a star, hanged on a cross, bled, and cried, "my God, my God, why has Thou forsaken me?" Jesus died, but " the source of life flowed out for souls and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world."

Jesus died yet He is alive in the Holy Eucharist in the form of bread at the church or chapel. In some Roman Catholic chapels and churches, they have Perpetual Adoration which is a 24-hour watch on the Holy Eucharist.

Every 3 o'clock whether it is in the afternoon or in the early morning, it is a good practice to pray the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy beginning with this 3 o'clock prayer:

"You died Jesus, but the source of life flowed out for souls and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O fountain of Life, immeasurable Divine Mercy, cover the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us."
"O Blood and Water which flowed out from the heart of Jesus as a Fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You.!"
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and the whole world." ( 3X)

The chaplet of the Divine Mercy.

Using the ordinary Rosary beads begin with - Our Father... Hail Mary...The Creed (I believe in..).
On the large bead before each decade - Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.
On the 10 small beads of each decade: - For the sake of His sorrowful Passion have mercy on us and on the whole world.
Conclude with: - Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (3 times)
Jesus King of mercy, we trust in you!
